Korthi
Turquoise waters, traditional villages, watermills, dovecotes and Byzantine monasteries — one of the most authentic corners of Andros.
Korthi, Andros
& beaches
Korthi is a fantastic place, where the turquoise waters and nature will amaze you.
The traditional character of the village makes it an excellent choice for relaxation and tranquility, while it is also the center of tourism in the area. It has three beautiful beaches and old paths leading to picturesque dovecotes.
Mylos
With a wind-surfing club — the ideal beach to learn how to tame the waves and cross the sea.
Vitzi — Agia Ekaterini
With wonderful characteristic waters and a little church above that gave it its name. Moments of relaxation & fun.
Tis Grias to Pidima
The most famous beach of the area, with the characteristic rock nailed into the sand. Hard to reach — but the view takes your breath away.
The beautiful villages
Worth a visit are Dipotamata, with their incredible watermills and a museum of hydroelectric power. Near the bay, Kaparia with its traditional dovecotes and stone houses from the previous century.
Vouni, Gianniseo and Lardia with their stone bridges, Chones, Alamania and Syneti with its impressive gorge, and Kochilo with the Venetian Pano Kastro (Kastro Faneromeni), make up the magic of Andros.
Monasteries & churches
Korthi is full of symbols of Orthodoxy. The Monastery of Tromarchia (Panagia Tromarchiani), on a steep slope with a magnificent view, hides gems such as marble inscriptions and a wooden panel. Magnificent monasteries like Alinos, Fletron and Agia Moni near the sea will impress you.
Notable churches too: Agia Triada, where the first pre-revolutionary school of Andros operated, Agios Nikolaos of Ano Korthi (12th century), and Agios Ioannis o Theologos — the oldest church on the island (5th–8th century), on whose roof, miraculously, a cypress tree grows.
